Chapter 34 – In which life continued as if almost nothing had changed

Rumours of an amassing army that was conquering lands faster than anyone had ever done before began to circulate the counties.

Meanwhile Aurora, Dew, Eve and their guests were sitting under the shade of the “giant” tree.
“So you can't go home?” Eve asked yet again.
“For the thousandth time: no!” said the one with the gruff voice.
“But why? I don't understand.”
“The bigmouth here-” began the one with the gruff voice.
“Hey!”
“-has made a promise that we shall stay. Our kind don't unmake promises.”
“Well, it's fun to be with you.” said the one with the high pitched voice.
“If only you humans didn't smell so much. Bleh.” said the one with the gruff voice.
“We don't smell!” exclaimed Eve.
“Of course you don't,” said the one with the fair voice, “but our noses are much keener than yours.”
For a while, they remained silent while natural sounds continued to flow.

“I still can't get used to your namelessness.” said Aurora.
“Names are overrated.” said the one with the gruff voice.
“Why is that one with the black shimmer always quiet?” asked Eve.
“That one is always like that.” said the one with the high pitched voice.
“I think that one's cute.” whispered the one with the fair voice to Eve and Aurora. They giggled.

“All done for today,” William said, walking towards the trees. “Are you done with the drawings? I want to see.”
“They're difficult to draw. Their shimmer keeps moving too fast for me to see properly.” sighed Dew.
“I should rightly think so. If it didn't, we'd be dead.” said the one with the gruff voice.
“Sorry.” said Dew.
“We'll try again tomorrow, on my birthday. There's a shooting star passing tonight, you can wish for a drawing of our friends.” said William.
